Finding TREASURE in a Relative's Closet AKA Thrifting
I went through Eric’s mom’s closet recently. All of her clothes looked super cute and since historically, fashion trends come back every 30 years, her old clothes were very modern and I could style them. Currently, lots of trends have their origins in the 90’s. As shown through the comeback of biker shorts and the 90’s cheeky jeans I tried on from Everlane.
Eric and his family are moving out of their old home so I got a chance to take a look through his mom’s clothes before they’re given away or donated. Since I’m young and still trying to navigate my own style, this is a helpful boost in trying new things out.

Cream Colored Wool Shirt
Verdict: Keep
I have a similar one at home that I really like so I wanted another since I know I’m going to wear it a lot.
Style
I would just pair these with high waisted jeans
Tweed Blazer
Verdict: Keep
I love the overall color which is perfect for fall through spring. It also has a super cute lining underneath
Style
I would style this with some basics underneath and just pop this on to dress up the colder months
Sailor Blazer
Verdict: Not Keeping
Collar seems a bit worn. Blazer is kind of in an awkward stage, I feel like it’s too formal if I try to dress up a casual outfit but it’s not formal enough if I try to dress it up
Cream Colored Long Blazer
Verdict: Keep
Still iffy about it so I want to try styling it more before I give up.
Style
I would style it by pairing it with a belt / tying it in the back
Wear it with a short dress / skirt
Camel Pant Set
Verdict: Keep
Love the color. Love the cut of the blazer.
Style / Fix
I’m thinking about styling it with a simple black/white turtleneck underneath
Wear it separately since the color is a staple for the fall through spring months
I would have to tailor these to fit my waist and shorten them for my legs
Hilary’s Tracksuit
Verdict: Not Keeping
I feel like it’s too hard to dress down, especially the jacket. And personally, I thought it only looked good on me when I kept my hands in my pocket
Gray Wool Pant Set
Verdict: Not Keeping
I don't like the waistband situation on the pants and how the blazer falls when not buttoned, since it gathers around the chest area.
Black Polka Dot Pant Set
Verdict: Keep
The polka dots are a cute addition to a simple black blazer. I like the cut of the pants even though they’re mid rise
Style
I could wear the pants as a wide leg pant just by itself or I could wear the blazer on top of a flowy summer dress. The world is my oyster with this one!
Pinstripe Pant Set
Verdict: Keep
I loved this oversized style and I can't wait to wear it in the fall. I also think it looks really good on
Style / Fix
I would style this with a cropped hoodie with white sneakers
Will hem the pants to be shorter
Black Wool Skirt Set
Verdict: Not Keeping
The back of skirt is cute but I already have a skirt that has a cut like this and I like that one more. I like the blazer but I don’t want to split up the set.
Chanel Skirt Set
Verdict: Keep
I’ve been eyeing this one in her closet for a really long time. I love the combo of colors.
Fix
I would make the skirt shorter in length, tighter on the waist, a different shape - either pencil or a-line.
Pinstripe Skirt Set
Verdict: Not Keeping
I really loved the pinstripe color which is a light pink, but I don’t like the skirt. Like the black wool skirt from before, I don’t want to split up the set
Jun Ji Hyun’s Mermaid Dress
Verdict: Keep
This is one of four dresses Eric’s mom wore at her wedding so I was super torn about these because of that but she told me to take it
In terms of naming, Jun Ji Hyun wore this when she played a mermaid in Legend of the Blue Sea and she pulled it off really well. But let’s be real, Eric’s mom is the OG fashionista. This caught my eye immediately because pink is my favorite color, it also has sequins and Jun Ji Hyun inspired me to be daring.
Style
By itself
I’m super grateful that she let me go through her closets. All of her items are super good quality and this is really helping me save a lot of money. I’m took them to the dry cleaners, stored them for the colder weather & took them to the tailors before wearing them all over the place~
